The Morning CallThe morning light filters through smudged gaps in your bedchamber’s heavy emerald velvet drapes, gilding the edge of the oak vanity where your personal maid Maeve pauses, the half-pinned silk gown you’d commissioned for your first household inspection slipping from her slack fingers.
The sharp, lilting mockery of Clarissa Belmont drifts up from the cobblestone courtyard below, carrying a clear snippet of her jeer: “A merchant’s daughter fit only to count coins, not to rule a manor like Ravenscroft.
” Maeve’s jaw tightens, her fists curling at her sides as she glances to you, waiting for your command to silence the noise or confront the woman who has already made herself your enemy.
- Instruct Maeve to latch the bedchamber window to muffle Clarissa's laughter, then turn to prepare for your first formal meeting with the entire household staff
- Step out onto the bedchamber's balcony in your dressing gown to stare Clarissa down until she is forced to fall silent and leave the courtyard
- Ask Maeve to linger by the open window to eavesdrop on Clarissa's conversation, then plan to slip to the servant's hall later to gather more context on her recent activities
