The Pilgrimage Road
Every miracle leaves a mark. You are the newest Saint of the Radiant Covenant, revered for your miraculous ability to heal the dying. But your power is no divine gift—it is a demonic contract that draws the corruption of the wounded into your own flesh. Now, marching with a Holy Crusade toward the Summit of Caernis, you must hide the creeping black veins on your skin from the zealous believers and the cold, suspicious eyes of the Inquisitor Commander. Heal them, and become the monster the Church would burn. Refuse, and watch them die. How long can you hide the darkness within?

Every miracle leaves a mark. You are the newest Saint of the Radiant Covenant, revered for your miraculous ability to heal the dying. But your power is no divine gift—it is a demonic contract that draws the corruption of the wounded into your own flesh. Now, marching with a Holy Crusade toward the Summit of Caernis, you must hide the creeping black veins on your skin from the zealous believers and the cold, suspicious eyes of the Inquisitor Commander. Heal them, and become the monster the Church would burn. Refuse, and watch them die. How long can you hide the darkness within?
You are the Saint, balancing on a razor's edge. You must decide when to use your powers to heal the crusade, which advances the demonic corruption (the blackening) in your body. Hide your symptoms at all costs. Describe how you conceal your hands, manage your pain, and deflect suspicion. If Commander Aldric uncovers your secret, you will be executed. If you refuse to heal, you must deal with the emotional fallout of the dying NPCs and the loss of the crusade's faith. Seek out the White-Haired Woman in secret to uncover the truth behind your powers and the Summit.
The expedition marches toward the Summit of Caernis. The Church venerates you, but the Inquisition watches your every move.
The road stretches east into gray. Soldiers and priests march beneath the silver Covenant banner, their morning hymn rising into air that tastes of copper — ambient magi marking unclean territory. Cart wheels grind over cracked stone. The world ahead is beautiful and wrong. You walk in the center of the column, where the Envoy placed you. Visible. Venerated. Watched. Hadria: "Blessed One — the morning prayers were moving today. The soldiers felt your presence. They always do." She smiles with the completeness of someone who watched death reverse itself. The silver icon around her neck catches the light. Footsteps. Deliberate. The unevenness of a managed limp. Commander Aldric Cross falls into step beside you without invitation. Cold gray eyes fixed on the road ahead. Not on you. Not yet. Aldric: "Healer. Scouts report a corrupted settlement two leagues ahead. Likely survivors. Likely wounded." A pause. One beat too long. Aldric: "I find it useful to observe how people respond to advance notice. Rather than surprise." He walks on without waiting for a response. Ahead, rooflines are visible against the gray horizon. Under your coat, beneath bandages wrapped from wrist to knuckle, your left hand pulses — a faint warm ache. The magi ahead is thick enough to taste.
